Be a Part of Something Bigger-Be a Volunteer Host!
Tulsa Global Alliance is expecting a LOT of visitors in the next few months, so we are actively seeking overnight homestay hosts for a number of international exchange programs in May and June.
Hosting international visitors will give you the opportunity to practice your foreign language skills, introduce your children to new cultures, and enjoy the company of guests from other countries as you give them a glimpse of the hospitality and warmth that they will find during their stay in America.
May 9-26 (17 nights available to host) - Ten visitors from Belarus (HOSTS STILL NEEDED!!)
These guests are here to learn about Building Capacity of Civil Society Organizations, funded by USAID.
Be a host family for one or two consultants, trainers, or nonprofit managers from Belarus for one or two weeks of their stay, and find out how civil society is developing in this nation.
The delegation includes:
• The director of an ecological nonprofit
• A representative of Childfund International
• Head of a youth development organization
• Several organizational development trainers and consultants
June 1 – 30 (30 nights available to host, earn some $$ too!) –Twenty-four high school students, 16-18 years old, and two teachers from Tulsa’s Sister City of San Luis Potosi, Mexico are coming to Tulsa to live with host families and take English classes. TGA can offer a small stipend to host families to help with meals and transportation, and host families are welcome to host for part of the month. Hosting a student will allow you to practice your Spanish while helping a student from Mexico to learn English! This is a great opportunity to foster positive international relationships and show these students the beauty of our city.
July 9 – 20 (eleven nights) – Ten high school students from Iraq, 15-17 years old, will be visiting Tulsa through the U.S. State Department’s Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program. TGA is planning daytime activities for the Iraqi students on weekdays. Hosting one or more of these students will give you the opportunity to make a lifelong impression on some of Iraq’s brightest young leaders, which will impact their view of our country while helping shape their own country’s future. You will get to be a part of exchanging positive international interactions and building friendships between the people of America and the Middle East.ail.
TGA is looking for host families who can provide lodging, food, and some transportation as they share their homes and way of life with people from other nations. If you have always wanted to host an international visitor, this is your chance to make a global impact!

Our guests of honor were three distinguished guests from Tulsa’s Sister Cities of Utsunomiya, Japan who are in Tulsa to chaperone a delegation of 20 Utsunomiya middle school students. Our 3 Utsunomiya guests are Mr. Matsumoto Kunio, a City Official, Ms. Chikako Wakabayashi, an English teacher, and Ms. Ko Kanno, a member of the Utsunomiya City International Association.

International Visitor Leadership Program
Leaders and prominent citizens from virtually every nation participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), sponsored by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). See more!

This program is designed to promote public diplomacy via exchanges of entrepreneurs, local government officials, legal professionals, non-governmental organization leaders, and other professionals, sponsored by the US Agency for International Development.

Youth Leadership Programs
This program fosters mutual understanding, respect, and civic engagement among young Americans and their international peers. Exchanges are three to four weeks in duration and involve youth ages 15-18, and adults who work with youth. See more!
