Sister City Film Series: “Amélie”

In partnership with Tulsa Global Alliance and Alliance Française de Tulsa, Circle Cinema hosted the third entry in the Sister Cities Film Series on the afternoon of March 1st 2026. Over 60 patrons braved the March rains to enjoy a 25th anniversary screening of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amélie (2001): At a tiny Parisian café, the adorable yet painfully shy Amélie accidentally discovers a gift for helping others. Soon Amélie is spending her days as a matchmaker, guardian angel, and all-around do-gooder. But when she bumps into a handsome stranger, will she find the courage to become the star of her very own love story?

Attendees had the opportunity to sample charcuterie and enjoy a wine bar in advance of the showing while Micah Keyan and Julien Feral shared information about the Tulsa-Amiens Partnership. Julien Feral also serves as the new president of Alliance Française de Tulsa, the premier French culture, education, and conversation group in northeast Oklahoma. Once settled into their seats, the audience was transported to Montmartre for two hours with Amélie Poulain. Amélie was an instant classic upon release in 2001 and has maintained its stature as a film that captures a sweetness and comfort unlike any other.

We hope that you will join us as we continue this series with Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000) in partnership with Kaohsiung, Taiwan in May. See you at the Circle!
