Discovering German Culture One Bite at a Time at Bixby High School
Area high school students had the chance to explore German culture in the sweetest way possible. Tulsa Celle partnership chair Sandy Dizdar and three dedicated volunteers visited a group of 25 freshmen at Bixby High School during their two-week enrichment class, Foods around the World.
“Food is always a great way to bring people together!” says Dizdar. “So, we – and our traditional offering of ‘Coffee and Cake’ – were received with much enthusiasm!”
The team introduced students to German traditions, shared stories about Tulsa’s connection with Celle, and helped spark interest in global cultures through a simple shared experience. Stacie Vernier, the lead teacher on this pilot class, hopes to establish it as an ongoing project involving multiple groups of students.
This collaboration highlights the power of cultural exchange in everyday settings and reflects TGA’s commitment to global learning across Tulsa.
