Innovation, Exchange, and America 250: TGA Welcomes International Entrepreneurs
Tulsa Global Alliance (TGA) was honored to be a part of the U.S. Department of State’s IVLP Freedom 250 Initiative, a special international exchange initiative showcasing America’s innovation, economic dynamism, and patriotism to professional leaders from across the globe. Through the initiative, TGA hosted five international entrepreneurs from Algeria, Nicaragua, Togo, Ukraine, and Vietnam in Tulsa from July 1 - 7, introducing them to local experts and best practices for business creation and growth.
TGA arranged for the international participants to meet with representatives of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, i2E, Junior Achievement, AAON, and the Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance. Tulsa economic development professionals gained valuable advice and insights from their discussions with the visiting entrepreneurs and vowed to collaborate in the future.
Carol Bush, Governmental Relations Manager at AAON as well as a Tulsa City Councilor, said “It was an honor for AAON to host business leaders from around the world. The exchange of ideas experience and best practices strengthens us all and fosters continuous improvement. By learning from one another, we not only build stronger organizations, but also become more impactful leaders in the communities we serve.”
TGA organized a special America 250-themed Toast the Travelers reception at NEFF Brewing. The evening featured remarks from the participants and TGA staff on citizen diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and the 250th anniversary of the United States. Thanks to a Dinner Diplomacy grant from Global Ties U.S. and Marriott International, TGA provided hot dogs and apple pie for our guests.
The entrepreneurs enjoyed home hospitality with Edith and Glenn Wilson, visits to Woolaroc, Philbrook Museum, and the Bob Dylan Center, and special July 4 activities including attending the Pawhuska Freedom Celebration Parade and the Folds of Honor Freedom Fest at River West Festival Park.
It was a great privilege to celebrate the first 250 years of the United States of America, and to celebrate the power of entrepreneurship in local communities, with our IVLP participants.
