Mwanza, Tanzania
A Tulsa Sister City Since 2024
Partnership Chair: Kuma Roberts
Honorary Ambassador: Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper
-
Mwanza sits on Lake Victoria in northwestern Tanzania and is known for its striking rock formations and lakeside views. It is the country’s second largest city and a regional center for trade, fishing, and transportation, with a vibrant cultural life shaped by many local communities.
-
The Mwanza logo is inspired by Bismarck Rock, the city’s iconic lakeside landmark on Lake Victoria. The silhouette includes a fishing boat to reflect Mwanza’s history and key industries. The purple color echoes the vibrant coloring of the Mwanza flat-headed rock agama.
