Utsunomiya is the capital of Tochigi Prefecture, known for its historic sites, modern industry, and specialties like gyoza, strawberries, and jazz. It sits north of Tokyo near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nikko.

The logo highlights the kibuna, Utsunomiya’s yellow carp of good fortune. A local legend tells of a carp that healed villagers during a smallpox outbreak, and the kibuna remains a symbol of protection and gratitude in the city.
