Celle and Utsunomiya Partnerships Host Reception for Perfect Days Screening

The Tulsa Global Alliance Sister City Partnerships for Celle and Utsunomiya hosted a joint reception at Circle Cinema on February 25 ahead of a screening of the Oscar-nominated film “Perfect Days.” The movie, Japan’s submission for Best International Feature Film, is directed by acclaimed German filmmaker Wim Wenders, making it a natural collaboration for the two partnerships.

Guests enjoyed refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about Tulsa’s sister city relationships with both Utsunomiya, Japan, and Celle, Germany. The reception featured brief remarks from Dr. Justin Rawlins, professor in Film Studies and Media Studies at the University of Tulsa, who offered insights into the film’s themes and international significance. A drawing for a Circle Cinema gift basket added a fun surprise for attendees.

Circle Cinema promoted the event by inviting moviegoers to arrive early for the reception and discover the cultural exchange programs and international opportunities offered through Tulsa Global Alliance. Attendance was strong and both partnerships were pleased with the event’s energy and community engagement.

The collaboration highlighted the shared spirit of the Sister Cities program and the cultural connections that link Tulsa with communities in Japan and Germany.
