Japanese Tea Ceremony Held in Tulsa
The Japan America Society of Oklahoma, in partnership with Tulsa Global Alliance, hosted a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony in Tulsa on Saturday, December 17. The event offered community members a chance to experience one of Japan’s most iconic cultural traditions in an intimate and educational setting.
Guests learned about the history, symbolism, and etiquette associated with the tea ceremony while observing the careful preparation and presentation of matcha. The ceremony highlighted the values of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility, which are central to the practice.
This cultural program reflects the ongoing collaboration between TGA and the Japan America Society of Oklahoma to bring Japanese cultural experiences to Tulsa and support the city’s long-standing connection with its Sister City of Utsunomiya.
