A Lunar New Year Celebration at Broken Arrow

In early February 2022, students and community members at Broken Arrow Public Schools came together to celebrate Lunar New Year through a special cultural event hosted by the Broken Arrow Asian Club in collaboration with Tulsa Global Alliance and the Beihai Sister City Partnership.

Members of the Asian Club helped plan and lead activities that introduced classmates to Lunar New Year traditions observed across many Asian cultures. Students explored the history and meaning behind the holiday, including themes of renewal, family, and good fortune.

The partnership with Tulsa Global Alliance and the Beihai Sister City program added an international dimension to the event. Through hands-on activities and conversation, students gained a deeper understanding of how Lunar New Year is celebrated in China and other parts of the world, reinforcing the idea that global connections can begin right in the classroom.
