Beihai Sister City Partnership Shares Chinese Culture at Global Gatherings

The Tulsa–Beihai Sister City Partnership was featured during the East Asia Region Weekend at Global Gatherings, a cultural celebration hosted at Gathering Place. The event brought together hundreds of Tulsa families to explore the richness of global cultures through food, music, art, and hands-on activities.

As part of the East Asia programming, the Beihai Partnership helped showcase Chinese heritage for visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the day was a vibrant performance by the China Rose dance troupe. Dancers in traditional costumes brought stories of Chinese culture to life and drew a crowd of enthusiastic spectators throughout the afternoon. Their graceful movements, colorful attire, and lively music offered many in Tulsa a joyful introduction to classical Chinese dance.

The Beihai Partnership table also featured cultural displays, activities, and opportunities for visitors to learn more about the Sister City of Beihai, located in Guangxi Province in southern China. Volunteers and community partners helped answer questions, share stories, and connect with families who were eager to experience a small piece of Chinese culture here in Tulsa.

Global Gatherings continues to be a meaningful way for Tulsans to meet our Sister City partners, explore new cultures, and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community. The Tulsa–Beihai Sister City Partnership is grateful for the opportunity to participate and looks forward to future events that bring Tulsa and Beihai even closer together.
