San Luis Potosí, Mexico

A Tulsa Sister City Since 1980

Partnership Chair: Clark Frayser

Honorary Ambassador: Councilor Karen Gilbert

  • San Luis Potosí is a historic region northwest of Mexico City known for its colonial architecture, cultural traditions, and population of more than 2.6 million. Its name honors King Louis IX of France and the silver-rich mines of Potosí, Bolivia.

  • The San Luis Potosí logo features the Caja de Agua, an ornate historic water box that symbolizes the city’s resilience and ingenuity. The logo color is inspired by the stone used in the Caja and many of the city’s historic buildings. A replica of this iconic structure, gifted to Tulsa by San Luis Potosí, is now installed at Tulsa Botanic Garden.
