Beihai Sister City Partnership Celebrates Asian Heritage Across Tulsa

In May, the Tulsa–Beihai Sister City Partnership participated in two community events that highlighted the richness and diversity of Asian cultures in Tulsa. These celebrations brought together families, students, and community partners to honor Asian heritage and strengthen connections across the city.

At OU–Tulsa, the Partnership contributed to the Asian World Experience, a cultural program designed to introduce attendees to the many traditions that shape the Asian region. Visitors explored hands-on activities, displays, and opportunities to learn more about the Sister City of Beihai in southern China. The event offered a welcoming space for students and families to engage with cultural practices that reflect the depth and variety of Asian history and identity.

Later in the month, the Tulsa City-County Library hosted its annual Asian American Festival. The Beihai Partnership joined community organizations, performers, and cultural groups from across the region in celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The festival featured dance, music, art, demonstrations, and interactive activities that showcased the wide range of cultures represented in Tulsa’s AAPI community.

Together, these two events provided meaningful opportunities for outreach and cultural exchange, helping Tulsans connect with the stories, traditions, and people that shape our global community. The Tulsa–Beihai Sister City Partnership is grateful to be part of these celebrations and remains committed to fostering understanding and friendship between Tulsa and Beihai.
