In April 2024, Tulsa welcomed a multinational group of visitors from across the African continent participating in a professional exchange focused on Transitional Justice in Africa and the United States.

During their visit, the delegation engaged with local leaders and organizations whose work reflects Tulsa’s complex history and ongoing efforts toward justice, reconciliation, and civic engagement. Meetings included conversations with Greenwood Rising and the Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce, offering insight into the legacy of Greenwood and its role in Tulsa’s present and future.

The group also met with former Sac and Fox Chief Kay Rhoades and Charles Tripp of Legal Advocates for Indian Country to learn more about Indigenous sovereignty, legal advocacy, and pathways toward justice for Native communities.

These exchanges created space for shared learning and meaningful dialogue, highlighting the value of people-to-people connections in addressing historic and contemporary justice challenges across borders.
