Doing Business With Mexico
In October 2019, Tulsa Global Alliance hosted Doing Business With Mexico, a two-day economic development seminar focused on trade, investment, and business engagement between Oklahoma and Mexico. The program brought together trade officials, international representatives, and Oklahoma companies with active or emerging business interests in Mexico.
The seminar began on the evening of October 7 with a reception at the Summit Club, sponsored by the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Attendees included Luis Domenech, Oklahoma’s Trade Representative in Mexico City, along with representatives from Oklahoma companies interested in expanding or strengthening their presence in the Mexican market.
The main seminar took place on October 8 at OSU–Tulsa and included breakfast and presentations focused on Oklahoma–Mexico trade relationships. Mr. Domenech shared insights into trade trends, market access, and opportunities for Oklahoma businesses operating in Mexico.
The program also featured remarks from Rodolfo Quilantán Arenas, Consul of Mexico in Little Rock, who discussed diplomatic and economic ties between Mexico and the region.
A panel discussion highlighted the real-world experience of Oklahoma companies doing business in Mexico. Panelists included Everett Treat of Arrow Engine, Larry Rooney of Manhattan Construction, and Carmen Clayton of TD Williamson. Each shared perspectives on cross-border operations, challenges, and opportunities within the Mexican market.
More than 75 Tulsa-area business leaders attended the seminar, reflecting strong local interest in international trade and economic collaboration. Tulsa Global Alliance staff and board leadership, including Program Council Chair Eric Kunkel, welcomed participants and engaged with visiting officials throughout the program.
Doing Business With Mexico reflects Tulsa Global Alliance’s role in convening informed, practical conversations that connect Tulsa’s business community with global markets, international partners, and shared economic opportunity.
