Tiberias and Tulsa Students Connect
The long-standing exchange between Amal Nofarim School in Tiberias and Carver Middle School in Tulsa continued to thrive through a series of meaningful student interactions in 2018 and 2019. The partnership is one of TGA’s strongest examples of global learning in action, with students experiencing one another’s cultures through travel, shared classroom time, and ongoing virtual connection.
In December 2018, students from Amal Nofarim traveled to Tulsa for a week of cultural immersion. Their visit included time in Carver classrooms, local sightseeing, and opportunities to connect with Tulsa families and educators. The experience allowed students from Tiberias to see daily life in Tulsa and build friendships rooted in shared curiosity and respect.
The exchange continued in March 2019 when a group of Carver Middle School students visited Tiberias. Their trip included time at Amal Nofarim School along with visits to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, offering a broad introduction to the history and culture of Israel. Students learned directly from their peers in Tiberias while exploring important cultural and historical landmarks across the region.
Both schools also participated in their annual video conference in May 2019. These virtual gatherings help maintain relationships between in-person exchanges, giving students a chance to reconnect, ask questions, and share updates from their classrooms.
This ongoing partnership reflects the heart of the Tulsa Tiberias Sister City relationship and demonstrates how global learning can profoundly shape students’ perspectives. Both schools continue to show how person-to-person exchange opens doors to understanding and builds lasting international friendships.
