German Holiday Traditions Shine at GAST’s December Celebrations
The German American Society of Tulsa (GAST) filled December with classic holiday traditions, opening their doors to the community for a series of festive gatherings rooted in German culture. Members of the Celle Sister City Partnership were honored to attend several of these events.
On the third Sunday of Advent, a choir made up of singers from local churches joined GAST members, both new and long-standing, for a community celebration. The event ended on a sweet note with homemade traditional Christmas cookies shared among guests.
On December 1, GAST hosted a tree-lighting ceremony before the annual Christkindlmarkt, Tulsa’s own nod to a traditional German Christmas market. Visitors enjoyed lights, music, and the warm atmosphere that marks beloved winter markets across Germany.
On December 11, GAST offered an all-German Adventsfeier, a non-denominational celebration of Advent that brought together attendees for reflection, music, and community during the holiday season.
These celebrations highlight GAST’s continued commitment to fostering German culture in Tulsa and reflect the ongoing bond with our Sister City of Celle.
