Visiting Professionals: Current Political, Social, and Economic Issues for Young European Leaders

From February 5-10th 2025, Tulsa Global Alliance hosted 6 professionals from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Finland, Malta, and Türkiye through the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). This program aimed to connect Americans across the country with young European leaders - and introduce these European leaders to the innovative ways Americans are working to address political, economic, and social issues at the federal, state, and local levels.

Throughout their time in Tulsa, the group engaged in professional appointments, volunteer opportunities, and cultural events. Highlights included:

  • Meeting with Mayor Monroe Nichols and Tulsa City Councilor Carol Bush

  • Visiting the University of Tulsa College of Arts & Sciences

  • Learning about the work and mission of the Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance

  • First Friday Art Crawl

  • Touring the Bob Dylan Center and the Woody Guthrie Museum

  • Shopping for western wear and attending the Oklahoma Invitational Black Rodeo

  • Attending a Super Bowl watch party at the home of Steve Finn

  • And more!

Thank you to the businesses, organizations, charities, hosts, and providers of home hospitality who supported this professional exchange with the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program! Visits like this, which introduce rising international leaders to leaders in Tulsa’s business, government, and non-profit sectors, and share our culture with the world, help make the United States safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
