Elementary students from Tulsa's Riverfield Country Day School and our Sister City of Celle, Germany exchanged ornaments for the holidays!

On November 16 2024, Tulsa Global Alliance and our community partner, Circle Cinema, joined together to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Godzilla with a SOLD OUT screening of the original 1954 film, in Japanese with English subtitles. Dr. Bill Tsutsui, Chancellor and Professor of History at Ottawa University in Kansas, came to Tulsa to introduce the movie, answer questions, and provide lively commentary with an engaged audience after the film.

At World in a Box Day, five friends from Russia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine stood together to show how friendship can transcend conflict and national boundaries.

Tulsa received a Caja de Aqua or water box gift from San Luis Potosi, Tulsa's first Sister City. A big shout out to Melton Trucking Lines for providing moving services. The Caja de Agua was delivered to the Tulsa Botanic Garden where the contents of eleven crates weighing four tons will be assembled. When assembled, the water box will measure over eight feet tall.

Alpha Zhang and a local calligrapher represented the Beihai Partnership at the May 10 Global Gatherings kickoff, engaging hundreds of visitors at Tulsa’s Gathering Place.

Leaders from Apostólica School in San Luis Potosí visited Tulsa- and Jenks-area schools April 10–12 to explore potential student and teacher exchanges, university partnerships, and connections with local education leaders.

A delegation of Utsunomiya middle school students visited Tulsa in March 2024, spending time with host families, exploring Tulsa attractions, and being named Honorary Tulsa Citizens at City Hall.

The Celle and Utsunomiya Sister City Partnerships hosted a joint reception at Circle Cinema on February 25 before the screening of the Oscar-nominated Japanese film Perfect Days.

On November 27, 2023, City leaders, family, and friends gathered outside City Hall to dedicate Sister Cities sign #5 in memory of Cathy Izzo, TGA’s longtime Sister Cities Program Coordinator.

The Utsunomiya Partnership hosted a cultural booth at the 2023 Asian World Experience, sharing Japanese traditions and highlighting Tulsa’s connection with its Sister City in Japan.

TGA hosted its annual International Breakfast and Coffee with the Councilors on October 25, 2023, featuring Sister City–themed foods and remarks from Tulsa leaders about recent global engagement efforts.

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Tulsa–Beihai Sister City Partnership hosted traditional Chinese dance performances at TU and Broken Arrow High School, highlighting one of China’s most significant cultural holidays.

Nearly 1,000 children and families explored 20 countries at World in a Box Day 2023, enjoying hands-on cultural activities, performances, and interactive experiences throughout the Central Library.

Beihai Sister City Partnership shares traditional culture through hands-on activities at TGA’s World In a Box Day at the Tulsa Library.

Tulsa-Amiens Sister City Partnership and Alliance Française de Tulsa celebrated France’s Independence Day with a lively Bastille Day gathering at Hop the Griffin. About 40 guests enjoyed food, conversation, and even a group singing of the French National Anthem, making for a festive night of French culture.

The Beihai Partnership shared Chinese cultural activities with youth at OU-Tulsa and Dillon International’s summer camps in 2023, offering campers an engaging look at Beihai’s heritage.

The Beihai Sister City Partnership helped bring global culture to life at the May 2023 Global Gatherings event, featuring vibrant performances by the China Rose dance troupe and interactive engagement with Tulsa families.

Family, friends, City officials, and TGA representatives gathered on June 1, 2023, at McCullough Park to dedicate a Sister Cities sign in memory of Arnulfo Murillo Muñoz.
