The Beihai and Kaohsiung Partnerships celebrated Lunar New Year at community events throughout January and February, sharing culture and performances at schools and organizations across the Tulsa area.

GAST’s annual Germanfest filled the weekend with food, music, and community spirit. The Tulsa-Celle Sister City Partnership joined the celebration alongside volunteers and friends from across TGA.

At World in a Box Day, the Utsunomiya table invited children to translate their names into Japanese, make origami Pokémon, stamp passports, and play “Taiko no Tatsujin.”

To celebrate Tiberias’s 2,000th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel, the Tulsa Tiberias Sister City Partnership is presenting a life-sized bison artwork to the city of Tiberias. The sculpture, created by Tulsa’s own Garden Deva, symbolizes the friendship between the two cities and highlights the cultural connections at the heart of the Sister City relationship.

In early February 2022, students at Broken Arrow Public Schools celebrated Lunar New Year through a collaborative event with the Broken Arrow Asian Club, Tulsa Global Alliance, and the Beihai Sister City Partnership, highlighting the impact of student-led global education.

TGA and the Japan America Society of Oklahoma hosted a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony in Tulsa on December 17, offering the community an opportunity to experience this cultural tradition.

Circle Cinema presented Russian film programs in 2019, including a Meeting Gorbachev lecture and screening and a live-accompanied showing of Battleship Potemkin, offering Tulsa audiences a deeper look at Russian history and culture.
